I think that's wonderful for wanting to open up to your parents. I would just be honest with them with everything that you feel and are going through. Moving to a new school and experiencing a big change can be tough and scary. I think if you're open though with your parents it will help them know what you are experiencing. I'm sorry also for the Depression you are going through!

13 is a really rough age. The brain goes through some changes such as being able to handle abstract thought. Identify becomes expanded and one starts to see themselves more in a social context with all the uncertainties that entails.

If you have understanding and caring parents, you should take advantage of all the support those who love you can give. You might want to be cautious about suggestions of medication as there can be significant risks for younger people.

I am sorry to hear about you experiencing depression at such a young age, OP. Something similar happened to me around your age and sadly it hasn't left me, so it is worth tackling it sooner rather than later.

I hope you're able to share successfully and gain support. I'm hopeful for you and a bit envious- best wishes

I hope sharing offers some relief, I'm sure your parents would be glad to help you and even proud of you for willing to share something so personal. I'm far too internalized to share such things easily with others, but am glad that others can.

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with this Kia. Switching schools is really tough. I remember when I was your age I had to swap schools multiple times and it was always a real struggle. Depression on top of that sounds unimaginably hard. You're obviously very brave and clever for seeing your problem and coming up with a solution. I agree with the others: it's great that you want to open up to your parents and have a plan for doing so. Learning to ask for help is an important skill, and I'm very impressed. It was something I really struggled with at your age. I hope it goes better than you even imagined and that you get all of the help and support you need  We're rooting for you!
