A few weeks back me and my boyfriend figured we had an apartment, but it wasn't fit to live in....we had already sighned the lease. but it was BS cause the conditions were messed up, there was even a poop on our patio they did not clean up before renting the unit to us. and the poop alone may not have been a big deal, but we but in a maintence request and they kept making excuses for why they couldn't fix s**t..so yeah luckily we did not move in much of our stuff, but yeah we told them due to what they gave us we want to look elsewhere and they better give us our money back of wed make a lawsuit for them giving us unfit conditions to live in, seems the prefered to just end our lease and send the money back. but juust as a service to other people we will probably leave some negative reviews to warn people how predatory those guys are trying to sell units that arent fit to live in.

Its just exciting cause we can finally start moving in, cause yeah we bought the apartment or put a hold on it a few weeks ago, and had to wait 3 weeks before we could move in, but now its ready and we have the keys and we have started bringing our stuff over. its going to be so nice to have a space for me and my boyfriend again, like as nice as my sister and boyfreind are, it juust sucks like living with people that don't have the same scedule and idk we have different lifestyles kind of...I love my sister and her boyfriend but I am also going to be so glad go to get out of their house and have my own space again. LIke as much as I love those guys I don't have a good space for just me in their space, so it wil be nice getting a place for just me and my boyfriend where we can set it up however we want and not have to worry about anyone else.

Had to sign a no smoking thing, but seems half the building is already smoking weed...like I could smell it in the parking lot and in the building, so yeah I figure I can get away with it, but I will probably be using more precautions than most the weed smokers like block the bottom of my door and get a smoke/air filter to blow the smoke into to make it less noticable, but probably not nessiary since seems a lot of people in the building are smoking weed without any attempt to hide the smelll at all, so yeah seems I should be ok smoking weed if half the building already is in spite of the no smoking policy. LIke moving me and my boyfriends stuff up we noticed a lot of weed smell in the hall and we don't care and will also be doing the same, so not like we're going to report it. So I am kind of getting the impression they don't really enforce the no smoking unless some as*hole complains. i mean its colorado, you really think no ones going to be smoking pot in their unit?

I'm really glad this is working out for you.
Even a vicarious smile is appreciated for its rarity. Thanks.

Congratulations on your new apartment!

I hope to be in a similar situation in the next couple of years.

I can completely relate to needing your own space. I feel that many of us Aspies benefit from independent living more than NT’s because of sensory issues and the pressure of constantly having to mask around your housemates.

Congrats to the both of you. I know finding a decent apartment can be a major struggle these days. I'm sorry you had to deal with the slum lord place but I'm very glad you stood your ground & were able to get them to just let you out the lease with all your money back. Still not worth the hassle & time & stress & such though. Leaving bad reviews is a good idea in case someone checks first before deciding the rent for them.

I wouldn't worry about the No Smoking clause. Every apartment my girlfriend or any of her family has lived in says no smoking in the lease but lots of people living in the complex often smoke inside including some of Cass's family. The problem me & Cass have is that smoke bothers our health. Cass has something like asthma & I have chronic sinus problems that smoke can majorly aggravate. We know better than to try complaining because I'm sure most landlords would rather just kick us out than risk losing the majority of their tenants by trying to enforce the rule because the non-smokers are the minority in most apartment complexes here. In some ways I think it would be better to live in a trailer home with a bit of land around us & is a ways away from the sidewalk so we don't have to deal with others smoking or hearing others talking loudly. However that's just not a viable option with our financial situation & Cass's housing assistance. At least our current apartment is a lot better than our other apartment together which was kind of a slum that we stayed in for 7 years & progressively got worse with neighbors playing loud music & yelling & frequent last minute inspection notices because they were trying to sell the place instead of trying to improve the place.

It’s gotta be such a relief after dealing with that messy situation with the other place. It sounds like it's gonna be so nice to have your own space with your boyfriend where you can both relax and set things up the way you want.
