I still have a ford fiesta from when I got it in 2018 and seems to have gone rather well since having it despite the fact it was pre-owned but I don't know how a car makes someone look or feel attractive. I don't really care much that my car unlike others hasn't got a sat nav system, my phone attached to play music or the latest gadgets etc. I know some people use their cars like status symbols. I just use it sometimes and I don't go out driving in it much anyway. I don't even take it to work as I only live about 20 minutes away from my workplace so I walk there.

Just be glad you've got a driving licence and a car. I got my licence cancelled a few years ago due to mental health problems and my drinking.

I think it'd make me look worse
For a kick off I get mixed up with left and right
And for another thing I get mixed up at traffic lights between stop and go

My head gets things upside down

Not inherently, but it's not a negative.

It suggests a level of having your s**t together that some carless people haven't achieved, it suggests one is capable of functioning as a normal adult and achieving milestones associated with being a fully-functioning adult and it suggests one has the income to cover the costs associated with car ownership.

A lot of guys seem to think their car is more attractive than their wife or girlfriend. I've heard of the phrase "car widow".

My ex thought more if his campervan than he did if his house but I never felt like I had to compete with it

Not to me. I think this is a subjective thing.

If I met a woman with a car with a bad smell because she sometimes drive around her dog in, it would make her less attractive.

Some people associate cars with a sign of success or being fun or being tough or mainly or whatever but I don't think like that. However I do associate taking mufflers off of motorcycles or mussel cars as being a huge d!ck who intentionally wants to annoy others. I also associate coal rolling as being a giant aHole who wants to blow his own smoke in everyone else's face :skull:

To the opposite sex? Yes, an expensive car is a symbol and recognition that you may be a good provider. Which is totally valid. When looked at the animal kingdom, flaunting ones "wealth" is indeed sometimes crucial to the mating process for example

The Bowerbirds,Male bowerbirds construct elaborate and decorated structures called bowers. They adorn these bowers with colorful objects like berries, flowers, feathers, and even shiny human-made items. The quality and complexity of the bower, along with the male's display around it, serve to attract females.

I do have a follow up question. Is the absence of a motor vehicle seen as unattractive? Even when I have the means to purchase a nice car outright.

Personally speaking, if I thought a woman was interested in me because I had a nice car that'd be enough to put me off her. Fortunately I never have to worry about that because I drive old shitters.

I haven't owned a car since my last one was stolen from outside my flat in 2003. By that time, I was finding that driving was becoming a bit of a bind with the increasing number of speed cameras and surveillance, not to mention costs, and I haven't come close to buying another car since then. I must have fooled quite a few people into thinking I was a 'fully functioning adult' (in the words of a previous poster) for the twenty years prior to that though!

A while back I had a beetle that clearly wasn't running on all cylinders. While climbing a hill in the country, in low gear due to lack of grunt, I noticed red hot coals bouncing down the hill behind me. That car was not safe in fire season.

Back on topic.
