This is framed as a rebuttal to Ethan Klein, but ultimately the same arguments are common among people who defend Israel but insist they're not anti-Palestine.

There is a misperception about polls that consistently show a majority of Israelis support prioritizing the release of the hostages over destroying what is left of Hamas. The polls are not wrong. The anger at Netanyahu for having the opposite priority for political reasons is real.

According to several Israeli guests on podcasts I have listened to, the assumption is that if Israel agrees to a permanent ceasefire in return for all hostages living and dead, Hamas will inevitably violate the ceasefire, giving Israel a Casus Belli to finish off Gaza without having all the hostages killed which will likely be the price of what Netenyahu is going to try and do once Trump returns from his trip to the region.
