Seems very hypocritical, seeing as how we're deporting people whose situations are much more dire.

Worse still there's no actual evidence they are being singled out or persecuted. According to the South African government, out of 26,000 murders, only 44 were white South African farmers or 0.16% of all murders. Whites make up 7.3% of the population so it means they are heavily under-represented in the murder statistics indicating no evidence of being persecuted.
Second white South Africans own 75% of land in South Africa meaning a large percentage of the population (blacks) are impoverished, unemployed and unable to contribute to the economy. It's weird because black south africans have more reason to escape poverty and murder as refugees > whites.

I wouldn't want to leave good ol' SA for the USA especially since the Dumpster took over. His rich pal Musky hasn't done anything for SA or any of its people. The two of them spit on all those less privileged than themselves, considering them losers.

There's still a good deal of racism incidents here over 30 years after apartheid officially ended. Mostly involving older males or a certain type of Africaner who like neither English speakers nor those of other skin colours. I've seen the type, more than I can count.

On the flipside the ANC corruption has played into the narrative of yet another failed state run by Africans. the 2 weeks of riots involving raiding Indian and white stores following Jacob Zuma's prosecution and the demise of South Africa's power grid is collectively disappointing.

They don't need refugee status. At best, they're economic migrants falsely claiming refugee status and at worst they're white nationalists who long for the apartheid days. Nobody in South Africa is oppressed or persecuted.

Yes we are fully aware of the government 's shortcomings. We now have s fragile government of national unity since the last elections: the DA also has it's shortcomings but then what party or government doesn't?

But the ANC certainly has failed the people and the people have begun to respond to the ANC's failure to provide a better life for them. They have been between a rock and a hard place hence lately been trying to patch up the cracks by avoiding load shedding among other things, and pretending to be serious about corruption

Fell by the wayside due to greed on the part of some elites who never even actively fought apartheid during the old days but wanted a slice of the big pie. They forgot their mandate to uplift the general population who had been subjected to discrimination. There are some good ones but many of the cadres are only in it to line their pockets and live like Marie Antoinette, ignoring the poverty of the masses and pretending nit to see it.

Reversing things like that without cratering the economy is hard. Zimbabwe is a pretty good example where they went from being relatively well off to being in such dire straits that they had to abandon their currency. It turns out that you can't take farmland that's being productively and hand it over to people that have no knowledge or intention related to farming and expect it to work out when it's such a large portion of your economy. I do get that there needed to be reallocation of the land to better represent the people eventually, but it turned out worse than if they had just instituted a tax to pay a UBI to those who didn't have property or the opportunity to buy it in the country due to colonial rule.

TBH, if it were anywhere near as bad as Musk is suggesting, I'd expect for there to be far more white South Africans abroad than there are. I encounter them occasionally, but even when I was living overseas, they were a tiny portion of the expats I was interacting with.
