Just wanted to tell you all about them

Bitter is really bitter
And Twisted is twisted as heck

I'm not taking them out skateboarding because they like to stay in all day and fantasise about hurting people and crunching their bones

that sounds like a death metal band, which is in my opinion my least favourite type of metal

hm, Alternative I guess, I do like a fall to break, uh kolbri92 makes great doom covers, you should listen to him, uh the doom soundtracks are nice. Although I do need to listen to more types of metal really. I like meganekos "cybergrind" and I'm planning to listen to "Judgement" by mega soon.

One thing you'll notice with extreme metal (death metal and black metal in particular) is that they have pretty melodic offshoots along with harsher offshoots.

A band like At The Gates or (insert other melodeath band here) will probably be easier to listen to than say Cannibal Corpse or Devourment.

I listen to more grindcore/crust punk/powerviolence type stuff than metal these days, extreme punk I guess you could call it?

They might be worth listening to, at the very least to just understand what people mean when they talk about melodic vs. brutal.

If you're used to harsh stuff, order doesn't matter much.

If you're not used to harsh stuff, probably starting with the more melodic side will be easier.

If you're a musician, stuff described as 'technical' might be impressive and easier to get into, but for a lot of people who don't play instruments it can be kinda boring and self-indulgent.
