with semantics and pragmatics, somehow i manage to twist/distort almost everything anyone ever says, into a personal insult. regardless of intention, awareness, context, or social norms.
for example, "does that make sense?" sounds manipulative to me because "logic could be used to justify anything." the speaker is challenging the recipient to phrase, in words, in real time, how and why the statement does not "make sense." just b/c my vocabulary is too small to explain how and why a statement does not make sense, does not "prove" that the statement is factually correct. for example, if i looked @ organic chemistry, i would not know how to articulate/phrase what does not make sense about it, but that does not "prove" that it "makes sense". furthermore, not everything makes sense. just because something "makes sense", doesn't "prove" that it is factually correct.
almost everyone i have ever interacted with talks way too loud, way too much, way too enthusiastically. "paucity of content"
To be fair, ideas don't need to be correct to 'make sense'; they only require sound internal logic. An idea can be batshit insane and still make sense, so long as there's some sort of coherent internal logic.
