This always seems to Happen
This seems to be a theme of my life when it comes to jobs that pay higher than minimum wage! Min wage is $12 in my state and I landed a job making $17.
The best way to socialize when you're an high functioning autistic person that can't mask at all, also when you're around people who won't tolerate autistic individuals who can't mask. Because the autistic individual puts them on edge and makes them uncomfortable and avoidant towards the autistic person.
A few things that happened to me: These are not their real names.
Whenever I drive to that place of work I just feel uneasy.
Sometimes during my shift I get emotional and just depressed. This hasn't happened in any of my recent jobs in the past four years. I don't know why that is?
A guy from the Deli even though he does first bump me and asks how I'm doing. We exchange a very short conversation usually. Then when leaves he's usually laughing. Which I find a bit odd and it's like he knows a something | don't know.
Liam a produce clerk was just like CR from warm to cold. I tried to have a conversation with him after greeting him then he put his index finger up and walked a way.
I heard a coworker say to another coworker "The creepy guy's back." As soon as he saw me. Then again I have no idea if he was talking about me or not.
Currently I'm not talking to anybody unless I absolutely have to.

Dear DevilMayAsian (or cry )
Thank you for your post and the situation you are facing is all too familiar for me as well.
And I think familiar to all who do not use the social-sphere as our NT peers do.
But keep in mind that luckily, currently we are still in a meritocracy.
And I've found that even with this hurdle, you can gain trust and create an at least professional report with the colleagues if your work and the way you work speaks for you.
Good luck and don't give up.
Kind regards,
Kada
