What about fiction you do enjoy?
It's probably been more than a decade since I last read any fiction. The last novel I read was War and Peace, and I really enjoyed it but haven't had much motivation to read any novels since.
Usually I only give any attention to serious fiction if it relates to my special interests (war, motorsports or street racing). Beyond that, I'll pay attention to comedy sometimes, like the Simpsons or Azumanga Daioh.
I've read a bunch of the Drizzt books, but they kinda slowly made me realize how bad a lot of fantasy novels are.
A few years before that I read most of LotR, but got bored and never bothered to finish the sixth volume.
I don't think I read novels except for when I wanted to write one, to get a better idea of how to write a novel.
