I have always had an abnormally high appetite, and I was wondering if this might be related to Autism? I know that the opposite is often true that Autistic people can feel little to no hunger.

What is your experience with hunger / appetite in relation to others?

I'm going to create a poll the measure the results, but feel free to reply to this post with your thoughts on this matter.

Thanks,

CFL

Mine fluctuates.
Usually either I don't eat a lot or eat too much.

Either easily full or easily hungry.
Both disruptive.
My snacking habit doesn't help; either I cannot go on without chewing something for few hours long or that if I saw a large enough amount of snacks, I'd eat it in one sitting.

Also my cravings for salty and sweets are particularly unmanageable.

Regardless, if it weren't for genetics and my habit of walking for hours, I swear, I'd be overweight.

Nowadays...
I'm not sure.

I think... I lost that wild swing between the two states all the sudden.
Including the snacking habit. Including the cravings.

Like I can go hungry without getting bothered by the sensation that my gut whines or too full that I'd crash or not breathe well.

Still unsure. It's only been a month for me.

it's very binary for me.
I've been in situations where food or money for food was simply not an option and I remember physically not feeling hunger. Whilst when available, and abundant, I tend to go full steam ahead... (blushes).

kind regards,

I'm not sure how to vote here.

When I was a kid, teen, & in my 20s I would usually only eat one meal a day due to being an extremely picky eater who couldn't cook & my mom hated cooking special meals for me. However when I had food I liked I would majorly pig out till I was uncomfortably full or all the food was gone. Others tended to be very surprised by how much I ate when there was a bit of food I liked ie when going to Mc.Donald's as a teen I'd order a double quarter pounder with cheese & bacon, large fries, & 20 piece nuggets & I'd usually be the first one finished eating. However on the flip-side there were times I went about two days without eating anything despite feeling very hungry because food I liked was not available. Someone once said I seem like a skinny person who always wins hotdog eating contests  though I never participated in any of those contests partly because I never knew of any in my area.

However I gradually became a tad less picky since I became a teen & after moving in with my current girlfriend at 30 it became a lot easier for me to get food I like. I also had to start eating at least two meals a day due to meds & supplements I'm on. I gained a lot of weight partly because I still I want to pig out when I eat & eating more often means I'm eating more food. I also started buying snacks for us a lot. However I've been trying to cut down on snacking the last couple years partly due to health reasons as well as not being able to really afford it; we have lots of credit-card debt we defaulted on  One of my meals is usually only cereal & I don't want to pig out on that & I've been trying to limit how much I eat when eating regular meals. I also started taking Methotrexate like half a year ago for skin eczema & I've been experiencing a bit of gastrointestinal problems like stomach upset & not wanting to eat as much. I really want to try switching Methotrexate to Cyclosporine but Methotrexate is the only immunosuppressant I can get, my Medicaid will not approve Dupixent due to it's insane cost & not considering my skin sever enough & other treatments do not help. Since Methotrexate is helping my skin a little I rather stay on it & I'd might increase my dose. At least I'm losing weight & saving money in addition to my skin getting better
