The man broke into a restricted area in the hospital.

"without permission as the MRI machine was running"

There is a reason why this is a restricted area in the hospital.

The man didn't necessarily 'break in' - there may have been no-one to stop him and therefore he may have been trespassing, but not not breaking in.

If that is what happened, there should have been a checkpoint of some sort leading to the room that would be staffed, so as to prevent this sort of accident.
