Hi,

I think this is a great community and I wish I would've found this community sooner.

I'll be a new chapter in my academic career in less than a week and I'm not sure how I'll be able to manage. My friend and I have been talking lots about me "surviving" an environment where I'll be looked at strange if I start getting loud about something I like, or my peers refusing to sit with me because I move around a lot while eating.

I don't think it'll be too bad; I'm a bit used to it, but I'm also wondering if it'll really be that bad of a detriment as my friend makes it out to be.

How does one find solace in an institution of tertiary education?

--Peace,
from a new member!

Welcome to WP! I hope you like it here.

And college is temporary. Focus on being a good and successful student. You can have some fun after you graduate.

(You might be able to sneak some fun in while you are in college, but remember your priorities. First and foremost you are a student...and you can let out a loud sigh of relief when you finish.)

Welcome to Wrong Planet!

Personally, college has been the best part of my life so far. All my friends are neurodivergent so I don't worry about them thinking I'm weird. I've struggled a little with classes but overall I've found that the format of college works better for me--I can schedule breaks throughout the day to recharge so I'm not drained at the end of the day.

Good luck!
