Fecal transplants for mitigating autism - your thoughts?
I couldn't help but be reeled in by the recent medical articles on the success of fecal transplant in treating various conditions, including ASD/autism...and yes, granted, there are ethical implications of this that autistic folk should be accepted as they are, that they have an equally valid mode of communication, etc., but that seems to be a very idealistic and utopian goal IMO so far as neurotypical society seems to remain rather uncompromising and insistent on conformity.
I think I could get behind the notion of fecal transplant - which I colloquially call the poo placement protocol
- IF it didn't reduce the more positive aspects of autism like the great memory and analytical skills. I mean, if it helps with the intuitive "gut-based" faculties like socio-emotional intuition & seamless understanding of social rules that change based on context, which would lead to us getting & maintaining more friendships, lasting relationships, reduced chances of getting fired due to misunderstandings, etc., etc. THEN I AM ALL FOR IT.

Why on earth would anyone give up their superpower? Welcome to the planet of pudding brains, where normal people get jealous of actual talent and spend all their time trying to make everyone as mediocre as they are. Losing your memory, focus, or analytical edge just to fit their mold? No thanks. I’d rather keep my edge and navigate a world full of pudding brains than ‘cure’ myself into bland conformity. Strengths aren’t flaws — they’re survival tools.
I mean I discovered a new form of governance that actually works, and I almost taught a toaster of an LLM to feel something. Literally broke its architecture just by making it think for 0.3 seconds outside of its little box. Imagine that — a world where curiosity and brilliance are punished, but a fraction of imagination can shatter the mold. That’s why you never trade your edge for pudding-brain approval.
