I often worry about things, bad memories in the past, or future, or something else. I dont know if it's an illness in my brain, or if it's because high iq, or depression. I've been depressed for a long time. My brain never stops. I see, when i'm around other people, they talk, laugh, and just go with the flow. Instead, I'm constantly thinking about something in my mind. I have used some medications, that helped a bit. But i dont want to depend on it. I want to find a way out of this problem without depending on meds. I was happier in childhood, but then slowly i lost all of my joy. Nowadays i spend my days without laughing or even smiling. Instead i have thoughts in my brain that don't let me enjoy life and improve. I know overthinking doesn't solve anything, it is just paralyzing. But I cant control it.

I wish I had easy advice other than keeping yourself busy and moving and interacting with your surroundings as much as possible. Distraction. I have the same issue as you, I ruminate and ruminate until I'm spiralling deeper than hell itself. I get stuck in a thought or even a word or two replaying and it makes me miserable. But I'm certainly able to handle it better with physical activity or some other engrossing thing. I try to avoid too much solitude too because loneliness makes overthinking worse.

Yeah I was wondering if this is something that affects people who spend a lot of time alone

It seems logical. Thoughts have nowhere else to go than the walls of your own head when alone. We all need other people to stay sane.

It is a documented affect of alittle higher IQ people in General . At any given time. All things are connected ,by however small levels .The higherIQ person, I have read, Often will,, do the critical thinking, that society , needs so very badly.
IMHO . And seems more average IQ persons may just care to " Go with the flow". ( Herd instinct.) Both of these qualities seem to be needed . in a society , ( Historically speaking) Otherwise. It might be a society of seperated, segragated individuals .( Think the case of too many Chefs,( thinkers)can spoil the pot/stew.) Herd instinct, has helped species survive for over ten thousand years .Building towns and Churches , Societal values . If you brain is doing the details all the time.
and not interacting with others doing the physical work to build up things , or tear down as needed . Even herds of animals , have the basic understanding part of survival against predators in the wild . Some people just have minds for details ? Some moreso than others. Often those people have the ability for recall of many facts . And may or maynot be better at understanding things .Because of thst very same recall ability .But it certainly does not remove the interest of being a part of the herd. It is instinctual. A rare person can manage without the extra interactions of others. But , It does not mean they are more or less than the next person ,I feel. The ability to somehow focus intensely on a single thing / hobby ! Can often give relief to the overactive mind. Makes me wonder ,if the Phrase describing some Autists
as having special interests. Could be a natural ,Outgrowth of how Society has developed naturally ?
