I was going to say if you are British but it doesn't matter if people from other countries say what their favourite British person is. I seem to think a lot of people would say Churchill is their favourite or greatest Brit yet even though I admire his leadership in world war two, he is a rather controversial character with parts of his character I don't like.

I personally would choose the writer JRR Tolkien, he is not really my favourite of all time but just because I've read his works since reading them beginning at 18 and was fascinated after seeing the films that I started reading them and I remember at one stage wanting to write something like he had done but it was frustratingly hard to think about and it's not something I could write and publish quickly whereas it took him years to write his works.

Gordon Ramsay
I don't admire his blunt attitude, but he does know his cooking. Since following his YouTube channel, I've learnt how to make mouth watering burgers and succulent scrambled eggs.

Come to think of it, a lot of culinary icons come from that side of the pond, but Gordon Ramsay sticks out to me.

Piers Morgan, most definitely.

Nigel Farage is hot but that doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him.

Ringo Starr
He is a drummer, and a conductor, and an all around night person.

If not Mr. Starr, then Lando Norris.

Alan Turing paved the way for computers. He headed the team that cracked Germany's Enigma machine.
He thought beyond pure math. His team realized that cracking the code wasn't enough. There were ethical issues to be dealt with so that they German's didn't know they cracked the code.

He is on the fifty pound note.

I kind of admire Oliver Cromwell for putting the Monarchy in its place.
