There seems to be a pattern at work, this happens everywhere I go. Granted I work low skill jobs because I never got through college and don't have anything highly skilled that I am doing. I do very well at these jobs, and am generally someone who stands out- combine this with my odd mannerisms, speech, awkward body language due to autism and many injuries over the years. I'm a pretty odd person which leads people to call me names usually gay or stupid or some other variation of this. But it seems to happen everywhere I go- I often regret getting to know people at work because it seems like they all eventually come to this point either out of jealousy or dislike or just the perspective people have I don't know that there is anything I can do. Telling people I have autism has never gone over well- it always lands like a lead balloon and makes people hate me for even stating something like this because while I am odd in some ways I'm also pretty normal. My struggles with this diagnosis seem to mostly prevent me from being able to mirror others or I have a harder time understanding another's perspective or just coming off as a jerk odd or apparently gay or dumb. This has happened since I was a little kid but in general I try to keep to myself. So I really don't understand it or how to overcome it or what to do about it- just gets very old. My lack of success in finding a wife gives them ammunition to make these accusations, not for lack of trying.

I don't know....any advice? anyone found something that kept people from trying to insult them because you are different?

What specific kinds of jobs have you had?

Also, in what country do you live (and, if you live in a large country like the U.S.A., which state/province/region)? Also, what general kind of place (urban/suburban/rural)?

Your answers to these questions might help us brainstorm possible options.
