It is really "everytime you go away, you take a piece of me with you." and many people have misheard it as "piece of meat".

Btw, there is such a Polish song the fragment of which says "móóój jest ten kawałek podłogi" ("this piece of the floor is miiineee") and many people mishear it as "uuu, jestem kawałek podłogi" (uh, uh, uh, I am a piece of the floor") :twisted: :mrgreen: .
