Yes, if I'm invited I do like to go. Shyness can overwhelm me at parties, also the obligation of wearing clothes I don't feel comfortable in, which depends on the type of party but for most parties you have to dress a certain way. I do often find myself getting restless at parties, as I don't drink alcohol to help relax me. My (NT) husband can't stay long at parties if he's not drinking, as he gets restless too. I don't struggle with sensory overload or social exhaustion, my restlessness at parties is for the same reason as my husband.
It's difficult being me because I am a sort of extrovert with social anxiety, or if you prefer, a highly social introvert. I have both extrovert and introvert traits, sometimes even at the same time, so it's not that I don't like socialising or find parties hard or anything, it's just I become restless after a few hours. But when people invite me and really want me to come I always feel touched that people actually want me there, so I quite happily attend the party. My friend at work has themed parties at her house, like Halloween or summer parties, and she always loves me to come. When I went to her Halloween party last year she was so pleased I had come and hardly left my side, and I had a great time, albeit being a bit shy because there were people there I didn't know. But they were nice and it felt wonderful to be mingling and meeting people. She's looking forward to me coming to her summer party next month. Of course I'll come.
