Will season 40 be it for the Simpsons?

I hope this isn't true, nothing has been set in stone.

My life would be completely upended if this happened. Ever since it premiered, just after my 10th birthday, it was the key guiding force of my life. When I was in high school, I had always wanted to go up to the vice principal and say "I'm Tim (redacted), who the hell are you?" For over 20 years, it has been a longstanding criteria (along with South Park) for a potential partner, and a primary reason for moving to either NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle (nobody in Houston likes those shows).

Plus if nobody discovers those shows, it's more likely that some preacher will try to convert them to Christianity (and by extension, purity culture).

Nancy Cartwright gave her opinion that started the rumor.

Quote:
During an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast, Nancy Cartwright was asked how long she thinks The Simpsons will continue. Without hesitation, Cartwright replied, "40 [seasons].” When Rosenbaum pressed her on whether she really believed the show would stop there, the actress doubled down, making clear that this was her personal prediction rather than an official announcement. With Season 37 already wrapped and Season 38 on the way, that would put the potential ending around spring 2029.

They have to keep going, if only to outlast South Park.

I quit watching South Park after what they did to Isaac Hayes' character. You don't do that to people (associating them with pedophilia.)

There are people in Houston who like the Simpsons and South Park.

I feel like it wouldn't be a bad thing for the Simpsons to start a new life on a farm upstate.

I feel that shows like The Simpsons, Family Guy, Spongebob Squarepants, and others should have been allowed to die when they were still entertaining.

The truly great shows don't go on past their expiration dates on life support just so greedy TV people can milk them for all they are worth.

If it does they might bring all seasons 21-40 on DVDs for like a limited edition or something, then fans like me who don't do streaming can watch.

It should've ended back in the 00s.
