This sounds eerily close to one of the more famous cases of someone with AS ending up in court. I don't know how many of you have heard of the story of Darius McCollum, which has appeared in a lot of media. Basically, he did the exact same thing this teenager did...except he kept doing it until he was in his 30s.

He's been in trouble a lot...but looking at some of the more in-depth articles, it seems there are lots of people out there (even NT reporters) who simply point out that this is the type of person one could make an ASSET for transit agencies, rather than a liability. He's a transit genius, but was not given the ability to use his knowledge effectively and productively...so, he used it in other ways. Hopefully the system will take that into consideration with this young man.
It's also interesting to see how this manifestation of AS differs from most effects of AS. Statistically, AS folk are LESS likely to commit crimes, know right from wrong (except when that line is based on "vibes" and social nuances, which Grand Theft Subway is, most definately, not), and are often referred to as "the rule police" who would NEVER do anything they knew was illegal. I know I've heard the saying "If you've seen one aspie, you've...seen one aspie" online before, I just hope the general public knows that most aspies, and even within that, most aspies whose interests are in transit, would never do something like this.

Oh well. My parents have one stupid belief that people with AS are more likely to commit violent crime.
They are really pissing me off now.
