I always can't help but take people with MN accents just a little less seriously than a normal person. It sounds so goofy to me. Sure, Boston accents and New York accents are probably thicker, but they don't sound as goofy as the minnesota accent.

Oh wait, I was thinking of the Wisconsin accent.... nevermind

Wouldn't know how a MN accent sounded unless I heard one.

Alex, are you joking or being serious here?!

Ever see the movie Fargo? Fargo is NOT in Minnesota.

Watch the movie Fargo. Not the best representation, but it's there. It's actually not that far removed from a Wisconsin accent. If you like older Alterna Rock, Listen to the Song Intros on Husker Du's Warehouse Songs and Stories CD. Grant Hart has a Minnesota accent.

:!:

Guess we were on the same mental track. I have never seen Fargo so I don't really know if the accent is right or not. I do know that I was on the phone with a woman from Alabama shortly after Fargo came out. She was a bit long winded and my mind started to wonder. She caught me off guard when she abuptly brought the conversation to an end by saying thank you. As a reflex I told her (cringe) "ya betcha."

I reinforced any sterotypes she may have had.
