from my computer's dictionary:

Quote:
hippocampus |?hip??kamp?s| noun ( pl. -campi |-?kamp?; -?kamp?|)

Anatomy the elongated ridges on the floor of each lateral ventricle of the brain, thought to be the center of emotion, memory, and the autonomic nervous system.

ORIGIN late 16th cent.: via Latin from Greek hippokampos, from hippos ‘horse’ + kampos ‘sea monster.’

imnotaparakeet appears to dislike his nation, and although I dont like the way our politicans run the nation, or our wars overseas, or our national policy, or how we spend our money, or our deficit, or out social security problems, or our medical issues and a few other things I must say while American citizens may feel more oppressed as a result of the new police state brought on by the war on terror I do not feel this is a land of cowards and you offend anybody who has served their country, or family of those who serve or did serve, or our forfathers who built this great nation. Mostly you offend those people who honor the memories of those great brave soldures who fought and died overseas, wether you agree with the conflict/war or not!!
