Once when my mtoher was bothering me about some stuff that concerned only me and didn't bother me, and she should really have left alone, she tried to touch me to fix how I looked, I think, and she did it in a rather aggressive manner, and I grabbed her arm and put it soewhere else so that I could get farther from her to prevent her grabbing me again, and she got SO mad at that and said "Don't you wrestle me! Never do that again, or I'll--"

"Or you'll what? What will you be able to do?"

"I'll put you on medication!"

"How will you make me take it?"

Aniother time, for no good reason, when I was jsut having a disagreement with her over something, she threatened to "call the school and get me a shadow"-- a shadorw was an integration aide... for what? That's so stupid! I got so mad at her because I was so insulted; how dare she think I was so stupid, or ignorant, that I didn't know that they only give integration aides to people who need them! They don't give them out jsut because parents request them for no good reason! And if she thought I needed one just because of that DUMB normal-but-wierd-on her-part disagreement, SHE was so stupid SHE ought to have had an integration aide!

Yeah well did your mom ever threaten to hire an escort to take you to the prom if you didn't have a date for the prom? My gosh, I threatened to move out I was so humiliated. I guess parents sometimes take these desperate steps to try to get through to us. The thing is, I wasn't really all that gong ho about the prom, my boyfriend and I had just broken up, so actually I was quite indifferent about the whole thing. My X ended up taking me just to get her off my back.

My mother once threatened to take me to a specialist, like it was a bad thing.

lol, that's hilarious. Not that it was meant as a threat... but that it was meant as a threat, if that makes any sense, lol.

I think that might kind of fall into the same type of thing as a parent saying "do you want me to spank you???" or "do you want to be grounded???" lol. They say it as a threat, a reminder, and of course, you're gonna say no... but I always wondered what they'd do if you just said "yes, please".

She said something like, "Behave yourself or I'll take you to a specialist!" I said, "You say that like it's a bad thing!" "Do you want to be one of those people that sees specialists?: Well, not that way, I forget how she sais it.

lol, it's still rather funny to think about either way. I think it's the mesh that treatment (which we could all use at one point or another) is actually being used as a threat XD Hilarious to me for some reason. It's like saying "stop doing that or else I'll take you somewhere where they will help you learn to control yourself!"

I'd have rather of heard that than the denial stuff I got passed all the time.

You're perfectly normal; you're just a little special!

Where I work, it was considered a big threat for somebody to be referred to the CMO (Commonwealth Medical Officer). I wanted to be referred to him because I thought he could find out why I was having so many difficulties with socialising and in dealing with people who gave me a hard time. It wouldn't have been a punishment at all.

That's exactly what my mom used to say! I'd tell her: "Mom, there is something wrong with me, I don't know what it is but there's just something not right!"

And then she'd say: "no there's not, you just think so lowly of yourself. if you would just think of yourself better then you'd be fine."

Thanks mom, yep, I'll bet if I think about myself differently then suddenly I will not be awkward anymore and people will like me. Uh huh, that's exactly what will happen.....I"ll probably stop tripping and dropping stuff all the time too.
