"Chutes too Narrow" by the Shins. They're a great indie band. Every song on that cd is a favorite of mine. :D

"Mabool" by Israeli metal band Orphaned Land.

The album is a concept album about the current problems of the Middle East. It tells the story of three men (one for ever monotheist religion) announce another flood is coming, and that mankind has to join forces to prevent the flood from coming. In the end the flood comes and washes away Israel but it also washes away the troubles and cultural differences existing in the Middle East. The album tries to build bridges between the different cultures by using both Jewish and Arab folk music and lyrics in English but also Arab, Yemeni and Hebrew.

those interested in Orphaned Land should check out my MySpace(www.myspace.com/nocturnalsea) page and listen to their song "Norra el Norra". It is one of their songs in Hebrew although the female vocals are in Yemeni. The song uses both Jewish piyyut music as Arab-Lebanese folk influences. The lyrics basically praise the almighty god Norra, bringer of the Torah.

Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set - The Moon Looked On

Picked it up on the day of its release, was looking forward to it for a while after thoroughly enjoying their last album.

Last week, I purchased "The Essential Bob Dylan" from a Best Buy.

All I wanted was one song on the entire CD.

ah we got someone with taste :D Placebo fan myself for 7 years and counting. The band considers Meds to be their best album so far. What do you think of it? IMO they still never did anything as good as Without You I'm Nothing but that album was so good it is almost impossible to peek above that level. Meds was definitely a good album though. Sad to see Steve Hewitt leave the band :(
