There have been other instances too.
WTF? Since when can't conversations
wander here? This site is getting more
and more restrictive.

This is pissing me off greatly.

I think MrMark doesn't quite have the good judgment he seems to think he has. This is too close to personal interests to be a responsible or impartial use of power. What’s more Ragtime and him appeared to be having a closed referendum on what constituted intelligent conversation. Well with these views it is really not surprising we get this crap. Mussolini would be turning in his grave. It is over restrictive behaviour is completely counter productive. I don't think discussion swayed too far off topic at all. I’ve seen topics divulge much more and even then it has been nothing short of healthily discussion.

Yeah. Alex made it pretty clear to us
that we shouldn't be trying to enforce
that kind of stuff. Hell, maybe it makes
sense, maybe it doesn't, but it's NOT the
flavor of this site. Had he been able to
split the thread, I would have objected
to that as well, but CLOSING conversation
ruined what was an interesting discussion.

This is from the person who saw nothing
wrong with all the old topics being necroed
out of the adult section, which no longer fit
the mood of that section.

What's he going to do next? Start closing
nonsense threads in the RandomDiscussion,
on the pretext that that's not what that
section was intended for? Let the damned
members use the site as they please.

calandale is also complaining about you locking that thread in the Love and Dating forum.

Yeah, he can kiss my ass. I and other members cannot discuss the topics we want to because he and others insist on dragging everything into sex or politics. This is the type of complaint I've been receiving. I woke up this morning and that thing had wandered off for more than two pages, and it's nothing we haven't heard before in PPR. He was contributing extensively to the off-topic discussion and contributing nothing to the topic. In fact, he doesn't contribute much to this site at all IMO. Now if this were a porn site, he'd be Senior Moderator. Slowly but surely, he and others have succeeded in dragging this site the way of I2. People have PPR and the Sex..., I mean Adolescent..., I mean "Adult" Forum, to fight and jeck off til their hearts content, but it's not enough for them. They just can't get enough, can't get satisfaction. They've got to spread it around, find a wider audience.

I guess I've been spending too much time in the Sex..., I mean Adolescent..., I mean "Adult" Forum. Is anybody aware that that I've been arguing against banning the people others want to ban. But then I've always been the mod with the slowest ban stick. Maybe I should descend to meet people's expectations and really moderate the site the way I think it should be. There are some here who would support that decision.

By the way, there's no love loss between me and Ragtime. He's as bad as anybody.

Liberal means inane?

On a good day.

Usually, it just means lying.

It sounds like you believe that anybody who disagrees with you is just wrong.

He did not respond.

Ya'll have no idea how often I've come to your defense. Alex wanted to shut down an offensive thread and I said he shouldn't because there was no rule violation, and he didn't. I've been having a similar debate with QM all morning. Like I said, maybe I should descend to your expectations.

If ya'll want to discuss Fun & Feminism, I'll be happy to unlock the thread. I've always been willing to unlock threads upon popular demand. Otherwise, please take youe garbage back to PPR or the Sex forum. Thanks.

It appear you have snapped a little. The thread you locked was hardly degraded at all. I think you possibly were affected more by it because it was started by you, have you though of that?

I appreciate if you come to my or cals defence but I appreciate consistency much more and tbh if you did go around closing down all topics that strayed a little off topic, which I think you are mistaken as being representative of what people want, I'd probably just leave without a fuss because it wouldn't be a site worth visiting.

Like the LAST time? That's when this site
kinda blew up, isn't it? And indeed caused
some of the problems, the allusion to which
MAY well have been WHY you shut that thread
down. We all know how much you appreciate
having any public criticism.

No doubt. And you'd probably lose another big
batch. You are indeed so politic in your handling
of such matters.

Yeah. Some are afraid of disagreeing
with mods known for banning people
without acceptable cause.

Ok. Sometimes Alex makes mistakes too.
We know that. Glad you got one right though.

So, the number of mods is down to a number
where you actually are DISCUSSING things
together? That must be a first for you.

Nah, the topic you started wandered into interesting
territory, as threads often do around here. BUT, locking
such a thread tends to kill the conversation. This is a
GOOD tool for putting out flame wars (presuming that
you can't just split them off), but for the same reason -
it KILLS the conversation. Do you insist people stay on
topic in all social discussions? If so, you might have AS. :P

I had even when YOU were still a moderator, Nietzche-boy.

Yes, I did shut it it down because it was my topic. I would have split it, but the site is broken. Ya'll have the privilege of discussing pretty much anything you want to. That privilege doesn't extend to hijacking threads. If it's a really important discussion ( ) I'm sure it will resume in PPR.

As always, if you have any problem with the way I do my job, don't hesitate to take it up with Alex. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.

QM, you weren't at issue here.
I can remember quite a number
of times when we held off actions
until we had a consensus, before
things started falling apart.

Indeed, having some level of ability
to work together is what made us able
to handle things at all, given our ambiguous
mandate.

If you want to make a topic of your own, make a new thread. You know, that little button next to the "post reply" button? The forums are compartmentalised for a reason.

And some people are known (to me) for slandering other members, a bannable offense. Now you're one of those members.

So, I guess Alex has decided (unlike before)
that he actually WANTS those divisions respected?
Because he certainly gave the opposite impression
before - that topics would (and should be allowed to)
wander.

Personally, I agree with zero here - MrMark cares about
his own little threads, and tries to enforce special rules on
them, to the detriment of any conversation occurring. Just
as when I posted something which COULD have been taken
the wrong way by someone in the only thread he was paying
attention to, many moons ago, and he sent me a veiled threat.
