The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

I see her as moving clockwise, i.e., as if she were standing on a clock and moving to the right, in the same direction as the clock. I can't stare and make her move counter-clockwise.

I'm also left-handed, which also indicated right-brainedness.

But, I don't know if the right-brain description suits me any more than my horoscope. But, fine, I can accept it. It is quite flattering anyway.

I think she's got a great body.
Oops, that's not really what this is about, is it?

The shadow blows it for me. I can't see her as anything but clockwise.

Wierd, when I first saw it, it was counter-clockwise, no doubt. Then when I clicked on the link to the story, it was clockwise. When I came back to WP, it was clockwise. WTF?

I used to do this with fans when I was little, stare at a spinnig fan and it would seem to start spinnig opposite. Tried to do it with this, but it's giving me a heachace.

ps. I just clicked the link again and the dancer slowed down, it does start to change direction. Tricky bastards.

It changes... Sometimes it spins clockwise, sometimes counter. I don't know how to make it reverse its spinning, it just seems to do it if I look away long enough.

Yes - when I first did it it was anticlockwise, then when I viewed it again after voting it had reversed direction.

Try watching it, then scrolling down the page until it is hidden & scrolling back up again - if I do this it reverses.

Just been watching it with a colleague - he swore it was going the opposite way to the way I saw it.

then I watched it for a long time - usually to the right but then changed & did 2 or 3 to the left, then back to the right.

This is a con!

That is the freakiest thing . . .

If I look at first, the figure goes counter-clockwise, and I can't see it any other way.

If I blink, suddenly the figure seems to be going clock-wise . . .

What does this mean? Am I left-brained or right-brained? . . I NEED TO KNOW! (Not really . . .)

i, too, see her moving clockwise and can't make her move counter-clockwise. although i am right-handed and definitely math-science kind of person. i am a researcher in applied mathematics. i should definitely see it counter-clockwise, according to the definitions...

I've seen this on TV once! And again, just like that last time on TV, I see both! Not at the same time, mind you.

At first I saw the figure turning clockwise. Then I looked at the shadow and the spinning changed to counter-clockwise. And then it was troublesome to get her to turn into the other direction again, but if I don't look to hard and concentrate on something else, the figure returns to spinning clockwise.

And now, the figure turns at random.

I showed my mom (for her it's clockwise and nothing else) and the longer I look at it, the more rapid it changes direction.

Ohh... maybe it's because I learned writing with my left hand?? I may be right handed or left handed, I don't know. My brain may be confused by relearning (but it works better than ever)! Is it possible not to have a dominate hemisphere? I changed hands all the time as a child, so confusing.

I voted left, because counter clockwise was what I saw first. I looked at it over and over again, and to me she most often goes clock wise; sometimes counter clockwise. As for it being a con thing, I can agree that it might be true... not that I want to look at it that long.

I just noticed that if I scroll down to where I can see from her hips up, then she spins clockwise. If I then scroll down to see the whole body, she spins clockwise for a couple of spins, and then shifts to counter-clockwise.

It goes clock-wise and only clock-wise. Can't make it go the other way.

I don't think that WrongPlanet has ever had a more perfect discussion thread.
