Lee Thomas has the disease vitiligo, which gradually turns black skin white.

The same thing supposedly happened to Michael Jackson. Allthough he used to cover up the white spots before the majority of his skin became white. He still has some black spots which he covers with makeup.

But why?

Why attempt to change who you are on the outside, when your genes will remain the same? Why change your ethnicity at all?

It doesn't happen by choice, it is more genetic.

Jackson's was not genetic - it was a circus act for him.

Very interesting. I once read Black Like Me - about a woman who darkened her skin in the South then wrote about her experience. Hope this man finds a way to keep it real and strong throughout this. I wish him well.

I read that book too.
The person was male.
His name was John Howard Griffin.

The person was male.
His name was John Howard Griffin.

I didn't say I believe it. But people should stop accusing MJ of things that can't be proved.

Vitiligo has nothing to do with race. It is an autoimmune disorder in which the body's immune system attacks the melanin pigment in the skin. While it is most striking in blacks. It attacks all races including whites.

I was just about to point out the same thing. It tends to become more visible on white people when they get a sun tan. It is not uncommon in any group of people.
