I've received much advertising from all parties. Almost none of it has given me any idea of the policies of the parties. Basically, it has boiled down to

Labor: *pointing at Liberal* Those guys suck!
Liberal: *pointing back* No, those guys suck!
Labor: Nuh-uh, they suck, not us!
Liberal: No way, you guys are the suckiest sucking things EVER!

Kevin Rudd: Me too.

If I take out Australian citizenship, I'll have to vote in the next election. I'm rather glad I didn't have to vote in this one, if the two major contending parties are capable of no more than a mud-slinging contest.

Lots of LCD ads. The only ad that didn't piss me off straight away was the "buzzer and pleasant ding one" by Labour when comparing Kevin Rudd's policies and John Howard's. They do a pleasant 'ding' for Rudd, and a buzz for Howard. It annoyed me eventually, but the first few times, it actually made me laugh.

Lowest Common Denominator. They don't even bother setting out proper arguments. It's either fear factor crap (particularly on behalf of the Coalition) or just truculent "anything you can do, I can do better".

I thought so. My younger brother and I use the abbreviation in the same way.

It's pathetic. The ad I saw today had a picture of a green dodo next to a picture of Kevin Rudd. The caption was "You don't want to vote for a Green Dodo or an inexperienced leader".
These people are going to be running our country.

Amazing, innit? In fact, very much like here: too many ad hominem attacks, not enough actual debate.

I voted for the bin; I get a little perturbed when I'm forced to vote if I don't wish to be penalized.

I get perturbed too when the people at the booths throw the dead trees with meaningless words on them in your face; I don't accept them.

Donkey voting?

Does "donkey voting" equate to screwing the ballot papers up and throwing them in the bin after I had my name signed off?

Yes if so.

No, sorry, got the terminology wrong. 'Spoilt vote' is the term.

Here's a tip. Informal voting itself isn't illegal. However, incitement to informal voting is illegal. And spoilt voting counts.

*Sings "Bad Boys". Badly.*

Eh, whatever. It's your vote you wasted.

It's funny, I see that you didn't waste yours, but I should [if I'm to be "normal"].

It tells people things about society and its collective need to coerce others to be like them, in a way, it's an allegory to the NT society that feeds off one another for comfort and the ultimate conformity to appear "normal".

To each their own.

Apathy is not a good thing. Not voting or wasting one is not a statement. If it is, it is not a flattering one. Next time, just cop the $20 fine if you don't want to vote.

Quite frankly, I don't like the tone you're taking. You're saying I am becoming part of the herd, just for voting and expressing my opinion? Just because one has AS doesn't mean one cannot do anything normal.

Apathy isn't there, there's much meaning in "nothing". Just because one doesn't see it, doesn't mean it's not there. I need not point out the reasons, as they're my own. It's not "flattering"? Who am I trying to impress (see: no one)?

The tone is the correct one no? My vote [for nothing] is a waste in your eyes, said waste implies that there's something wrong with how I voted. How I voted is counter to the majority, the social group and society, said society that you're a part of.

Not that that was the implied tone (no need to redirect it), a vote for nothing is equally as important as a vote for Labor/Liberal, I see it, neither is the better way to vote as the meaning is in the mind of the voter.

Your vote isn't a waste in my eyes, why is mine?
