My apologies if this poll hasn't previously been done.

The question is, which would you prefer to be? Aspie or NT. Like if you could take a pill that would make you an NT, would you take it? If you want, you can give an explanation why. These are discussion forums after all, aren't they?

Personally, I think I would take it. Life would be a lot easier. I know that sounds lazy, but, actually, I think it's a good reason. I'm tired though. Maybe I'll get into it tomorrow.

I wouldn't take the pill. I don't need to be a NT, being an asie is fine. Its hard but it has its strengths to besides, no life is perfect and things always look better from the outside.

I don't know whether I'm aspie or NT, but I'd prefer aspie. Why? I don't really know entirely. I associate it with oddness, eccentricy, and other traits I have, and being an aspie would explain so many things that went on in my life in a succinct and recognizable manner.

If I'm an NT, a lot of the things that have happened in my life certainly don't make any logical sense. If I'm an NT, cerebral narcissist might be a better description, but I seem to fit that far less than the criteria laid out for a genuine aspie.

I maybe a big reason most here would prefer to stay the way they are is because they're used to it; it's what they know: not necessarily because it's better or more advantageous. After all, aren't aspies especially resistant to change?

That said, though, imagine how much less friction you would encounter as an NT, how much simpler life would be, how much less painful it would be.

Yeah, this has been polled before, but that's okay.

I think taking a pill to be an NT is like taking the blue pill in the Matrix.

Frankwah would life as a NT really be simpler? With all the social conventions and norms these are quite complex which I wouldn't want to have to deal with. Less friction, people are harsh and usually don't care if its an NT they are being harse to, many NT's have difficult lives and everyone has struggles. Would life really be less painful? From what I've observed of the NT world it can be pretty painful, stressful and irritating. I'm not saying the AS world isn't but things aren't always better for 'normal' people.

I would like to be myself, with no labels.

I'd take the pill if it were temporary.

Otherwise, I'd dissolve it and stick it into an NT's drink. Two results are likely:

A) They become even more NT ( 8O 8O )
B) Amusing Side Effects!

Of course. I acknowledge that life isn't easy--for most people, regardless of whether or not they're NT. However, I am of the opinion that life for aspies in general is harder, more painful and stressful than for NTs. I really didn't mean to say that everyone's life is perfect and lovely except for aspies...

I would rather be an aspie BUT provided that I am aware that I have the "condition".

Before I was diagnosed, I was constantly being upset by the way that NTs treated me. Now I mostly understand why they are reacting the way they are towards me. And, I don't feel I have to internally apologise for being the way I am.

I am also happy having a very rational approach to life although I realise that I'm in the minority.

I don’t think I would take the pill. I’ve come to pretty much accept myself the way I am. I prefer not to be overly social because I find it tiring. Then again, maybe if I was NT I wouldn’t find it tiring.

I totally agree with this. Taking a pill to become NT would just mean getting used to a whole other set of problems. At least I'm used to the ones I have.

It is easy for them to deal with these conventions and norms. That is what makes them NTs.

They are not nearly affected by these things. NTs are not sensitive like us.

Less painful than the life of an AS person. Yes. Pain free. No.

I think it's fascinating the different strengths and varities shown by decent AS people and decent NT people.
I like who I am. I do like the AS.
