Random question, haha. But I'm curious to know whether a lot of Aspies work out or not. A lot of NTs seem to work out to look good, but that aspect of working out might not appeal to Aspies as much??

I work out occasionally for the endorphins. That's about it. :)

I work out. Aspies have just as much a right to want to look good as NTs.

I walk, bike ride, and lift weights not so much for looks as for better health.

Wow Richie, same for me. Bike (try to do 20 miles a day in the summer) walking up to 5 miles a day since I can't bike right now. And need to start lifting again (have been off and on) but am still unmotivated, and procrastinating. Will not go to a gym, too many people who "want to talk"
Only work out at home or the bike trails. (We have terrific trails here too!)
Stress fractured both hips and screwed up my knees in the Army so only super-low or No Impact for me. My MOS (Military Occupational Specialty) was a 03C Physical Activities Spec. so I used to lift for 3 hours a day and trust me, "Muscle turns to FAT if you don't keep on it." At least on me it does :D
I like how I FEEL when I'm working out,and not trying to sound vain or anything, but don't like guys hitting on me based on my body. It gets old, really quick. I have more respect for someone who wants to get to know me when I'm NOT working out and have extra pounds on me. Of course, once they get to know me they usually head off pretty quick, but that's fine too. Ive learned to be happy alone and at this point I prefer it.
My main motivation through is staying stronger than my 6 year old autistic daughter, and staying healthy for her. I need to be here for her, also why I quit smoking 10 mos, nope 11 now ago. :D

Since I moved to California I have had a hard time getting myself to stay active.
In Fairbanks, I used to love running on the roads and trails where I lived (North of town).
When I worked for AFS (wildland firefighting) we worked out everyday and ran a lot too.

In the winter up there, I was always going cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Here... we have rain...yuck.

At least while I'm in school I take a p.e. course every semester... swimming, or running/aerobic conditioning, or weightlifting.
I'm not sure what I will sign up for next semester.
My p.e. classes are the first classes of the day, so I can head off from there to do my other more academic stuff.
Works for me.

In better weather, I can bike the 5 miles to school.

Oh... yoga and stretching!
I try to keep this up.

LET ME TELL YOU YOUNG FOLKS SOMETHING!

If you work on your flexibility now and keep up with it... you won't be all stiff and unable to move smoothly when you get older!

Simple stretching or yoga poses are a great benefit to anyone's lifestyle.

The 'bible' of stretching for the past 30 yrs or so would probably be, "Stretching" by Bob Anderson
A good beginner's book for yoga would be, "Yoga for Wimps" by Miriam Austin

Another tome worth considering is "Fit Or Fat?" by Covert Bailey (1978, 119pgs). I wonder if it is still in print.
Something I came across while looking through an old "Whole Earth Catalog" I have kicking around.

I workout for stress-reduction, which leads to fitness. Looking good might be a result of this, but the main reason I do it is to feel good. I'm fairly aggitated right now, because the weather forcast for tomorrow is too damm windy for me to workout in (just as it was today). Arggg.

I run daily, I'm an ex cross country runner and track person. so running is in my blood and my families, so the fact that we (with the exception of my sis) are all former xc and Track people, is a big thing.

I run anywhere between 1-3 miles, just depends on how I feel that day.

I worked out for a while when I had free access to a gym, and I definitely need it, but I just fell out of the pattern. I'd go do it again, but I don't have the free gym anymore, and I can't afford to pay for one.
But when I did, I felt immensely better. I was able to get by on less sleep (which was good because I needed the time for homework and the Internet!) and even less food. I thought that one was weird, but I just didn't feel as hungry, and that's saying a lot for me. XD

I do bike everywhere because I don't have a driver's license or a car. I don't think it's sufficient exercise, though.
Oh, and I finally found a sport I can actually get into: Dagorhir (one of many LARP games, this one just happens to have a local group here). But the weather is starting to get bad for that! I'm already putting on my winter coat and preparing to hibernate.

Wurd. You're a Dagohir? woah. cool.

I'm part of Belegarth, same thing, more or less. I'm second in command of my college group, Vulpes Audiacitor Prolieter (latin for Foxs Fearless Fighters)

Yeah, I'm not so bad at it either. :) At the same time, I'm not so good. I only just got into it towards the end of summer, so I've got a lot more to learn.

Reading through the rules a little, Belegarth seems almost identical to Dagorhir, down to the specific wording of some of the rules. The only real difference I noticed (I didn't look very hard) was that our equivalents of Marshals are called Heralds. Though I suspect there are plenty of unwritten differences. Apparently the realm I'm in is known to hit much harder than other realms/groups and expects them to hit harder too. :) But I haven't fought outside of my realm yet.

I run three times a week. 2x30min, 1x1h.
I walk roughly 7 - 10 hours a week.
Ballet every tuesday, 1h15min.

That's all.

I lift weights four or five times a week. I look pretty good, dare I say. I have little fat, and probably about 25 lbs of muscle I wouldn't have if I didn't lift.

Being fit and muscular makes you look really good in clothes. Today I had an interview with some prospective employers. I was all dressed up in my suit, dress pants, tie and jacket, and it looked really good. I filled it out. It's nice to look good. When you look good like that, strong and fit, it gives people a good impression of you. If you display intelligence, are well spoken, seem to know what you're talking about, AND you look good, strong, fit and handsome, then it really seems like you're a person who has his shhit together. That said, I nailed the interview. I think they really got a good impression of me.

Looking good, strong, fit and handsome engenders confidence. There are also other innumerable benefits to being fit and strong... so I'd say it's likely that lifting weights and general fitness is something that's going to remain an important part of my life for a long time.
