I'm pretty creeped out by most spiders, or especially big, hairy ones with eight eyes like tarantulas. Not as bad as friend of mine who has legit arachnophobia though. So spiders... and yeah, that thing--nose haired mole.. that is some freaky stuff there. I would probably stomp it out of disgust.

Another animal I find a bit creepy is the armadillo. They're kinda cute when you see them in pictures... but when you see them in person, especially in the wild, where there is no protection. When I was living in Florida one time when I was out running doing my normal route, I saw one creeping around on the track. I stopped and looked at it, surprised at how strange and unworldly it looked. I'd never seen one in person before. It looked like an ancient alien... like something you'd see popping out of the ground in a Power Ranger's show. Like a really cheezy quality prop or something. It looked fake. It certainly didn't behave as other world animals would. I tried to mess with it and jumped right before it to spook it. Well, it had none of it. In fact, it crept toward me suggesting no near at all and maybe aggression. I retreated after looking at it for a while longer and continued my run.

Yeah, and armadillos smell so BAD. I held one when i was in the fourth grade. it took me a week to get the stench off of my hands.

Some kind of hornet I saw frequently when I was in Ibiza. They had a really thin abdomen, but large chest and rear. These things looked like 2 bugs following each other.

Anything living in the ocean. I can walk on the beach and wade to my ankles but anything more induces hysteria. Whales, sharks, fish, you name it.

Humans are the only animals that consistently freak me out; beyond them, I've never met an animal I haven't like, been fascinated with, and found beautiful.

That star-nosed mole is awesome.

Good fortune,

- Icarus once had a pet leech...

Flies! They are the most disgusting things! I think it's because I know where they walk. I just hate the idea of them crawling anywhere near my food.

Then you must be a big fan of maggot therapy. 8O  I've always wanted to undergo such therapy, but have never had cause.

Good fortune,

- Icarus is a fly in the soup...

Kilroy's pic is an angler, and yeah, VERY deep sea fish. It's a female - males are about the size of your thumb tip, and permently attach themselves to the side of the female. I think they're pretty cool.

The vast majority of animals fascinate me. I not squeamish about any except:

1. big, fat, gorged maggots. *gag*
2. sea locust - I have never seen one in person but the footage on Animal Planet's Most Extreme about how the baby sea locust eat the mommy sea locust alive is just TMI even for me
3. big, stinky, flying cockroaches
4. spiders with long, spindly legs

Just for you and the NoNameRockGirl:

A mama cellar spider, with spiderlings on the way. :P

I share my cabin with many of these creatures; they are harmless, and keep me company. One of them even tells me stories sometimes.

I love spiders. (Boy I wish the hyperlink style was actually visible.)

Good fortune,

- Icaurs marvels at how the legs can be to spindly, and still so functional...
