Anyone find that if you're watching movies or tv, you start to become like the fictional characters on screen? I find this seems to happen especially if I find I can identify with them. They become embodied in myself. It's like they become a part of myself and I might even subconsciously act like them.

Sounds like you're talking about being a visual Aspie. When you read a book, do you SEE the story? Or do you just read the words?

I do see the story rather than words. I do think visually.

When I read I see the entire story before my eyes like a vision, its why I've always loved reading.
Sometimes the words remain just words and I can't read.

However, in other aspects I'm not very visual, though my sense of humour has changed since I watched a lot of family guy :P

Heres an interesting addition though, the music I listen to all the time changes my voice and guitar style, without me actually conciously thinking about it at all.

I've been listening to radiohead a lot and my vocals have gone like 2 scales higher :P

I think if your a visual Aspie, it's almost inevitable to start identifying with the main characters, if you like them. It's one of the things that made me love books sooooo much. No matter how boring the world was, I could go ANYWHERE in a book.

The best way I can explain it is... when I have a thought, or read a page, rather than a string of letters, it comes together in a picture for me. That's a poor explanation I know, I mean say "pink elephant" to someone and they'll picture it, right? When I read a book, it's like it's a miniseries playing out in my mind. I see the characters, I see the action. When I'm trying to come up with a system at work, I have to picture it, come up with a visual representation of it or I can't get the concept to gel.

So do I, a little, not to mention a bit like Rik Mayall's characters from various British comedies, albeit better natured and better tempered.

I am a very visual aspie. I read, and I 'see' the things happening in my imagination.

Have you ever read a book in your mind and seen the characters and then they go and make a movie with actors and actresses and they look nothing like you imagined. It ruins the whole thing for me.....

Yes, but I have to say, I give Peter Jackson props for doing SUCH a good job. I dread the day some producer discovers the Eddings series... the Belgariad especially. I love those books soooo much I used to dream of becoming a producer or director just so I could do it RIGHT. I used to try and cast the movie in my mind, with the actors that were popular at the time. They never looked quite right. :D
