My bread ain't buttered that side, and I may be crazy, but not crazy enough to ignore all of society's mores.

Why are people picking on me? I'd never stalk somebody. :(

Now this is a good example of how the general publics mind works; if are passionately interested in things or ideas, including celebrity versions of favourite /adored characters, are therefore inevitably going to be capable of seriously anti-social behaviour.
It is exactly that sort of attitude which puts people labelled as aspergers, autist etc, in danger of increasing isolation , discrimination, hostility. Gets them labelled as dysfunctional in the first place even. When passion for things and ideas is seen as pathology.

Sad/strange to see it on here, if not, unfortunately, that surprising, because it is well known that oppressed people introject ( what is the correct word? can't think of it !?) the ideas which oppress them, thus increasing their own depression and sense of low self worth.

What is funny about connecting someones passion with anti-social behaviour? I can see it was meant as a joke but the ideas seemed to flow just a bit automatically from one to other. :?

:(

Maybe stalking is actually the sign of someone who doesn't value ideas enough. For whom ideas have no significance, so that if are drawn to someone/thing must act on it with body, trail them around physically, interact with them in the flesh, real world, etc, rather than in their head.

...the OTHER end of the "spectrum" if there is such a thing?

You must be thinking of internalise. :)

We should make a distinction between (a) people who enjoy an interest, have an encyclopaedic knowledge of it, and are willing to spend time and money pursuing it; as opposed to (b) those who repeatedly harass or otherwise invade someone's privacy to the point of creating fear in their target. The first is perseveration; the second, paranoid delusion.

And I suspect that Werbert's accusation was made in jest.

Yeah, I know... I wasn't even thinking of stalking as being connected with anything like that, or trying to imply anything... or say that you really would stalk anyone, I know you wouldn't... and yeah, I'm an idiot.

Just figured from reading these posts that Quatermass may have been offended.

If so, I'm sorry, I was only joking. You're one of the many people on WP for whom I have a great deal of respect.

I'm sorry. I only like being the target of humour if it is me being self-deprecating. :?
