Are you soothed by the sound of a monotone voice? Do you like having news programs and documentaries on for background noise because of the sound of the monotone voices? Do you get annoyed when someone in your house is watching a show full of dramatic, fluctuating voices? Do you find these dramatic voices to be stress-inducing and distracting?

My brother listens to Sirius radio talk shows. How I loathe the babble. I much prefer the sound off on the TV with captioning on.

I love to watch the telly with the closed captioning on. It's hilarious. Especially if you're listening to something else!

Yeah, I kind of am, if it's soft and gentle. I really hate "sing-song" voices.

Slow, soft, sort of monotone voices can also be sexy!

Thats funny, cause I like to put words in their mouths.

As a teen I would be subjected to my sisters music and when the song was something moaning about "why did you...yaddayadda" I would reply back in the pauses. nothing sickens me more than syrupy lyrics.

Try listening to the Dead Kennedys while watching Madonna videos (especially True Blue). It's brilliant!

But of course! It's a big part of Soundwave's appeal. He could probably any language from German to Swahili and make it sound hypnotic.

Since I speak quickly myself, monotone voices are too slow and seem to drag on forever for me.

Well, some people may call it monotone, but I hear all kinds of tone variations that apparently aren't big enough for others to notice (or care about). I prefer these more subtle changes in tone. More emotive voices sound over dramatic and fake (because they usually are). I just want the facts.

The other day I got yelled at work for being "too monotone over the radio" :P

I do that kind of thing too. If I want to watch a show without monotone narration, I turn off the sound, put on the captioning, and put on a record. But I like matching random things on tv to my records too, and I do have several Dead Kennedys records.

The only monotone voice I really love is my ex's (who I'm convinced is aspie even though he's been misdiagnosed as a million different things).

I loved calling him on the phone just to hear him talk about random stuff (mostly buddhism related). :)

One odd thing is that I have never had trouble with my tone. My socialization skills are definitely Aspergers, but I never did get that one. Mind you, I have Depression, Anixiety, and possibley OCD, so I don't need any more difficulties.

I find that I really like the type of voice that other people refer to as "boring". I guess they think it is monotonous, but I find it really easy to listen to and process.

I love the sound of my monotonous voice; it's really soothing. Maybe that's why I talk out loud to God before I go to bed.

I hate the shows my mom watches, because people yell and get hysterical a lot and it distresses me. I like finding parts of my shows where the characters have calm chunks of dialog and I just replay those parts over and over.

I like Ben Stein's voice.
