An elegant solution, in use on the blog of the writer Peter David, one he swiped from the old TV series "The Paper Chase":

I have shrouded elan_i. I do not see what he/she writes; I do not hear what he/she says. Therefore, he/she cannot affect me. (I've applied the same technique to a few other, carefully selected people - of course, notifying them of this rather defeats the purpose, so I doubt they have any idea of what has happened.)
