Several people have been receiving e-mails notifying them that they had registered an account on zomg. These are fraudulent, but they are not some sort of recruitment drive, or anything along those lines. I'd like to apologize to anyone that has been inconvenienced by this.

Unfortunately, these account registrations (and unauthorized use of publicly posted e-mails from here) isn't something that can be readily stopped, as it appears to be a further attempt by one former user of that site to discredit it, or damage it, or even cause others to want to attack it. (I believe this is related to the spam attacks that happened recently, can't say that with complete certainty.) He has also been doing things such as registering dummy accounts in the thousands on that site, as an example, using numerous international proxy servers.

If you receive such an e-mail, please either send me a PM about it, or reply to that e-mail and state that you did not register the account. Either method should make sure that the account will be deleted. At the moment, new accounts there must be authorized to post by an administrator, so there should be no concern that fraudulent posts will be made under your name, but if that happens I will try to make sure that those are deleted as well.

Again, sorry for the trouble.

For the time being, please PM me if you receive one of those e-mails. Replying to the e-mail may not work, as that account has been flooded with spammed account request notifications for quite some time, and your message may not be seen.

I'm glad I don't show my e-mail address publicly.

If you receive a registration e-mail, please send me the name of the account if you send me a PM. If the user name is the same as your user name here, it will be easy to take care of, but if they differ it could be harder to track them down if I don't have the name that was registered.

Also, I am not personally able to delete these accounts, but I am doing my best to get those that can to do so. If you check, and the account registered with your e-mail is still there, please give it some time. I'm hoping that this can be taken care of within the next couple of days, but I can't make any promises about it.
