Awesome idea! I'm glad there is now forum to post current events related stuff. Good articles on infectious disease invading planet earth, as well.

How is this different then Politics, Philosophy and Religion?

Yes. I'd say current news related to Politics, Philosophy and Religion could go into either place. PP and R forum is more for items that tend to get debated.

An article on the new government of XYZ country could go in either place. An editorial or opinion or poll about it would be better in the PP and R.

Just my opinion.

I just read some interesting articles from space.com about sound waves coming from black holes. Is there anybody else out there who is interested in space? would love to chat.
