Yeh, like I have learned to do that! I just learnt to accept it and try to be a little bit subtle. I don't usually flap which is a plus in social situations. I just try to keep the big stuff that is uber noticable for when I am on my own or at home, and try to put off picking my fingers if I can. Other than that... Oh, and I have become very jiggly lately.

Maybe I had, seeing as I used to almost never stim these past few years. Lately though I have been sort of silently tapping my fingers against my knee in class and it has helped me to relieve some of the anxiety I have been feeling.

I have a bracelet that rolls on my wrist and has a textured charm to finger. So I keep it subtle

Why would I want to control my stimming? Everybody flaps their hands, it's the latest fad.

I just noticed this today and am not even sure this would count as stimming but alot of the time in class I take my key necklace thing (not sure what there called but Im sure you know what Im talking about) and have it go back and forth until my wrist gets tired (then if Im not taking to many notes switch hands.) This seems to be quite good at calming myself down though Im sure it pisses off my teachers to no end (not that I really care) because it in and of itself is distracting and sometimes it makes noise which is distracting, plus they could see the action in and of itself as proof that Im not paying attention but really who cares.

The only stim I feel a need to do in private is pacing. When I started doing it when 5 years old, I never let anyone see me pacing around because even then, I knew my folks would think it was strange and make me stop. However, they knew about my thumb sucking and as much as they tried to make me stop, I didn't stop thumb sucking.......until I started biting my nails. So one stim usually replaces another, in my case. The only time I flap is when I laugh really hard or get startled. I also tap my foot, swivel in my chair at work and twirl my hair.

The big stuff I try not to do in public. It's ok at home, but I've learned that it's "just really wierd" out in public.Often times, the little things go un-noticed though. But sometimes if I REALLY can't help myself I go to a bathroom or a empty room.

Yay! I also stim whenever I feel like it, to stop stimming wouldn't stop people form thinking I'm still weird and eccentric.

I sometimes smoke when I'm feeling nervous or really happy. I don't know if it can be considered as a form of stimming or not. I really enjoy how a cigarette feels in my hand, so I'm guessing it can.

I do it under tables if I need to or I even find an empty room and pace/flap/rock/head shake as much as I like.

Or I will use the more common stims which just about everyone does at one time or another, like leg shaking, etc.
