A part of London's not so distant past that I refuse to let go of. Nostalgia is fun!
It's not what it used to be.
The Routemasters are not quite gone, though "preservation" leaves a slightly odd taste.
"Two "heritage" routes have been introduced to keep the Routemaster alive in London. These operate on short sections of Route 9 and Route 15 as follows:
Royal Albert Hall — Hyde Park Corner — Piccadilly Circus — Trafalgar Square — Strand — Aldwych (0930 – 1830, every 15 mins, mirroring part of existing route 9).
Trafalgar Square — Strand — Aldwych — Fleet Street — Cannon Street — Monument — Tower Hill (0930 – 1830, every 15 mins, mirroring part of existing route 15). " from

Apart from hopping on and off platforms in London for a good number of years,
my other odd bus connection is pre-routemaster:
KYY529, RT 1702. The last of the Festival of Britain buses.
