Heavy Winds

Not sure if this has been made yet but who else here is being hit by these really strong winds upto 80mph? we sure are in the south!

For some reason I assumed this thread would be about severe flatulence.

haha... most from the uk should know what I mean.

I was getting pushed along on the way home from lecture just now, but I was really surprised when my mum told me we're on gale warning last night because it's been so calm here. I walked into/out of Oxford from headington (about two miles) last night, and it was pretty fine.

What about anyone up north? I'm slightly jealous of the snow. ;___; I want some! (Although, preferably not on thursday, because I'm filming).

It's just a typical winter storm. The 80mph is for gusts, not sustained wind speeds. The most important factor is that it is occuring during very high tides, and that combined with storm surge effects has caused some local flooding. Unfortunately, it also gives BBC presenters an opportunity to prance around on a wave-lashed promenade as if this kind of thing hasn't been happening on a regular basis since we first became an island.

Yeah very true, I knew about it gusting to that speed, dread to think of it was a constant 80mph.
