I cannot tell what disorder I have.
Hello, I'm new here.
I have various symptoms which until recently I have interpreted in the same way my parents do, as an "eccentric genius" neurose. However, after posting my symptoms on another forum it was suggested that I have an autism spectrum disorder. My symptoms include:
I have trouble speaking in anything but very formal language. (I suspect this is the reason for my parents' "genius" hypothesis)
I cannot tell others' emotions, and they cannot tell mine, I apparently always seem either supremely calm, very excited, or angry.
I apparently learned to read before I could talk, and this makes me pronounce things the way they a spelled sometimes.
I have sleeping problems, and never feel tired, even now, when I haven't slept a full 8 hours in 5 days.
I apparently can think faster than other students, and I read at speeds uncommon. (I read a 900 word short story, with full comprehension, in 1 minute, when it was supposed to be homework for the weekend. This was in grade 2.)
I have extreme trouble multitasking, but once I get on one task, I work very fast at it, and get irritable when disturbed. The annoyance is never noticed.
Okay, I took the rdos aspie quiz. my results are:

Sounds Aspie to me, but I'm no psychiatrist. Stick around a bit, see if there's anything here you can relate to. You'll have to decide for yourself whether or not to seek a formal diagnosis; one may or may not be helpful to you. Anyways, hope you figure out what you want to know. Also, it should be noted that many in this forum disagree with the characterization of autism/Asperger's as a "disorder," and the view of it simply as a difference is increasingly common among professional researchers such as Tony Attwood.

How I understand things is
I think our brains have abnormal wiring, some parts of our brains are over active where as some parts are not. I'd say that would be where you get your talents from, because you have parts that are over active.

Don't disregard NLD as a possibility.
I was sure I had Asperger.
I showed up as Aspie on the internet tests that I took, but was finally diagnosed by a psychologist (four hours of various tests) as NLD with some strong signs of ADHD (minus hyperactivity).
I'm 61 years old.
Apparently diagnosis is a lot more difficult than I thought.

Welcome Aereshaa!
You are so lucky to have symptoms in the bright end of the spectrum. I am tired almost all the time.
I have trouble speaking in anything but very formal language. (I suspect this is the reason for my parents' "genius" hypothesis)
It is better than making up your own language as you go! With language, I mean use of word A in place of word B with the intent of word C.
I apparently learned to read before I could talk, and this makes me pronounce things the way they a spelled sometimes.
100% identical, though I learned to shut myself down when I become too excited or angry.
I am astonished by your reading speed. Feel positively blessed! Multitasking is overrated as you always have a million things going on. This means that you never seem to finish anything because one project is replaced by another and you never run out of projects.
