Thanks for the info.-hadn't heard of his passing.
He was a fascinating person, in the fictional works he created & the non-fiction (artificial satellites) he made real.
Enjoyed reading 2001, 2010, and 2061.

He was practically immortal already. 90 years, wow. And lucid up to the end.

probably old age...;) Of course, living in a war zone (Sri Lanka) probaby isn't good for the digestion, either.

He didn't actually invent the satellite, only the idea. He ruefully admitted later that he should have patented it...;)

Have many of his books, some great, some not so great. He will be missed.

90 years old? He probably just stopped. They said he had been having trouble breathing.

I heard of his passing. He had been ill for a number of years, and he was a very intelligent ,thought provoking man.

I enjoyed his books .

A grand old man, his stories will be with us forever.

I used one of his stories as the theme of a presentation about Deep Blue:Quarentine

The question is, will his coffin be black and rectangular... and will they shoot it off into space?

He suffered from Post-Polio syndrome, and reportedly died of a breathing problem.
A great writer, always thought "Childhood's End" a classic.
