It was on the local news where a boy with cerebral palsy and muscular dystophy ( guess I didn't hear the second diagnosis) was hit by a teacher.

She was trying to get him to sit up straight in his chair and jerked him to the side causing him to fall out of his chair and wind up with bruises on his arm and side.

His parents are suing the teacher who resigned (was fired) from Athens High School (?) and now the boy is 16 years old aand is being homeschooled.

The hitting happened this January.

Dang, how bad does it have to be to get bruises from falling out of a chair? That is a shorter distance to the ground than tripping while walking, and I can bet that if that child can walk, he has tripped plenty before. What if the child didn't have those labels? Would an non-anything kid's folks be suing and pulling him out entirely? Nobody is suing the chair manufacturer? Aw boo-frickin-hoo.

When I was in jr. high, there was a boy who hopped the fence and tried to run away, and he was in the learning disabled section. Two male teachers threw him to the ground and literally hog-tied him with their belts. He's fine. Learned something too - don't run away. That is what school is for, learning.

But no, that cpmd boy needed a special chair if he could not sit up straight. He can't help it. Still, sue the chair manufacturer, keep the teacher, just reduce the salary.
