"Come on down to South Park and meet some friends of mine!" --From the intro theme by Primus.

Nothing, not even the show itself, is safe from being lampooned on this 'toon. Unfortunately the shock value has been waning, as the past few seasons have sought (and acheived) new heights of rudeness. And the show's running parody of TV script formulas ("I learned something today...") has long been tediously formulaic. Not much left for the show, I fear, but to recurse into parodies of its own rudeness (definitely not a show for kids!).

But I find the treatment of current events sometimes ingenious, and the characters' forthrightness is a refreshing contrast to the socially-acceptable dialogue found in most entertainment. The characters say exactly what they mean, no mincing words. The show owes a huge debt to The Simpsons, as the creators said their goal at the outset was to create the same kind of spontaneous absurdity.

Kenny's muffled and horribly crude dialogue is actually understandable, depending on one's level of intoxication. The kids' unrestrained swearing is the closest I've seen on TV to how I remember kids actually talking.

Mine would have to be CodeLyoko, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, sometimes W.I.T.C.H, Foster's Home of Imagary Friends, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. I can't really think of any others. There's some more favs but I don't really remember all the names.

Do any of you Gen-Y people out there remember shows like Adventures of the Little Koala or Noozles that aired on Nick Jr. in the late 80s/early 90s? I haven't seen those shows in years, but for the past couple of days I've been plagued with visions of surfing koalas.

I'd love to see an episode of either of those shows again; to me, it'll beat the crap out of watching something like Dora the Explorer.

P.S. I don't want to start an argument here, but I think The Fairly OddParents is the worst show in television history. I swear, the whole show is so ret*d and childish, I'm surprised everyone loves it. I don't, that's for sure.

P.P.S. My all-time favorite cartoon is The Simpsons, but I'm kinda more into Family Guy when it comes to new episodes.

ReBoot, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, RoboTech, Animaniacs, Tiny Toon Adventures. I have a lot of favorite anime (especially Ghibli films), but I assume this is more about what we enjoyed growing up?

Family Guy is the best, Simpsons, Futurama, and The Critic follow. Cartoon Alley is also rising quickly on the list, although it is not a singular cartoon.
