Hey I'm concerned that all MP3 players, I pods don't run on standard batteries.

Has anyone been stung when the battery on their MP3 player needs replacing?

yes. It costs about $100 for a replacement from Apple but I keep getting newer models before the seven years or so that it takes for the battery to die.

There ARE some models that run on regular batteries, like the Creative Zen Nano or Sony's Media Walkman but usually these models hold less than 2GB.

You can replace the batteries on most iPods yourself, it's just not easy or supported by Apple. For less popular brands, I don't know...I'd imagine you'd have a hard time finding a place that sold replacements.

Yeah I don't like the idea that the device is probably chuck out material when the battery dies.

Batteries may last longer than advertised. I have this old PowerBook, it's one of the original models from February 1992, and I still can squeeze out about 20 minutes on the original battery.

wow I thought they died after a few years. Did you look after the battery? I heard when you leave a battery inactive.
How long did it last when you first got it.

They also blow up on occasion

I have a 5th gen video iPod, battery is dieing and the warenty just expired, back in january, but it looks like I am in luck because Best Buy is selling better ones, that last longer then the old ones, and they only cost around $25 here in Canada
