I have often wondered what it would be like to meet in person people like yourselves....What if Alex could pull off such a get together? I bet he could, I bet we all could. Would you guys want to meet people in Wrong Planet?

I just wonder in my mind if something like that could be pulled off, if it was maybe brought together by maybe Dr. Tony Attwood and Alex or something....I'm sure Alex has contacts.

Why not make Wrong Planet bigger than what it is, to form like an Organization that meets together like once a year, maybe have one meeting on the West Coast and then antoher on the East coast?. Why not? It could be a way to get ourselves noticed for who we are and heard.

Any thoughts?

Je pense que there's a topic or two like this in Members' Only discussion. Basically, most of us would not be able to travel cross country (or overseas) for one get-together, so several regional ones would work best.

I have many constraints that would make traveling more than a couple hours' drive away from home difficult, and I'm sure many people have even more restrictive constraints.

Ways and means, plus a general lack of ambition have put the brakes on any get together plans that have surfaced.

I live in wisconsin and I would love to meet the other members from wisconsin, but I don't know how it is the other way around.

Scott,

I think your attempt failed because there was too little time to put something together. Given more time, it may have worked.

I'd be interested in a general Northeastern US area get-together

There are lots of people here who are physically located in countries as diverse as New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United States, Mainland Europe, the UK and Ireland.

While it might be possible for people closer to each other to meet up, it would prove a logistical nightmare to have a global meet up. That does kind of make it an interesting proposition, though the practicalities would tend to get in the way of it ever happening.

Also, there is the fact that while many people are comfortable interacting via the Internet, the actual prospect of meeting up 'face to face' could be quite worrying for some people.

I have relatives in Madison, Wisconsin. In fact, my dad is visiting his brother and family this weekend. Of course, I can't go because of college. It means, though, Wisconsin might not be too far for me, though.

I think the closest WP has come to this is Ghosthunter traveling around and coming to meet all of us. Well, not me. He didn't come into St. Louis.

I'm sure he would have if he hadn't run out of money first. He might still be able to come at some point, but right now he's focusing on getting and keeping a job.

How is GH doing? He's being missed on here very much.

You could try PM'ing him, I think he checks his PM's occasionally. Mostly we talk on Yahoo. He's staying with BeeBee, recently got tested for an official diagnosis and is waiting for the results. He also got hooked up with a social worker who is trying to help him get a job.

I'd like to meet people from here, but it's the time and cost that is a problem, and the clashing with errands and stuff I need to get done.

There aren't many NZ members here, and it seems I don't get along with alot of them, anyway.
