I'm unsure. I've played "Europe" (a really old computer game I had on my mac, it came out like a decade ago) and it was about WWII but if Axis and allies is the actual name then no.

Ive played it on the computer (I'm too lazy to play it on the board game, plus have no one to play it with) and have developed decent strategies for both sides.

Yes, however now I play Attack which is IMO way better as you are not tied to exactly the same scenario every time.

I attempted to play the board game once with friends. They always did stuff against the rules and would then argue that they were right even though they never read the rules  One in particular always illegally placed reinforcements at the beginning of his turn and then didn’t remember where he put them so it was impossible to take back. Then he would complain the the rules were "ghey". After a while it pissed me off so I just quit.

Now I just stick to risk because the rules are easier and people don’t have the propensity to accidentally cheat all the time.
