One of the best games ever made. However, when I played it as a child I became scared of the subject matter by around the end of the first episode and I've been irrationally afraid to play Doom past a certain point ever since. It's a bit of a shame otherwise I'm sure I would have spent many hours playing it.

I played Wolfenstein and Doom when they first came out, and I played a lot of the clones, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, Witchaven, ROTT, Duke 3D, Unreal over the following years.

They're all fairly good games.

Recently, because the Engines have been redeveloped, I've played a lot of them again with my kids.

I only wish there was Doom for the PS2.

Still play it, though I use Doomsday to give it 3d models and hi-res textures. I started playing it after it was already considered old, because I was too young to be allowed to play it when it was popular.
