Will I get punished if I post multiple posts (2-4x) on WP?

They're all different and long, I just need to break my thoughts up sometimes. Is that a bad rule to break, or is it only a warning type offense?

There's no rule to say that you can't post multiple posts.

In the "games" type threads, in "Off the Wall: Forum Games, Quizzes, Roleplaying, etc.", posting multiple times is sort of "cheating"... it's having more than one "go".

You ARE asked not to create multiple (similar) topics.

Breaking one long post up into a series of shorter, more organised posts sounds an idea that one or two people (myself included) should think about doing.

Sometimes I just think of something I want to say after I post, and since it's a different (ish) thought, I want to get another post point (I'm very competitive)

Interesting point. You shouldn't post, just to post. However, what you just said is one I find hard to decide on, at times.

If I have a thought that really SHOULD have gone in the post I just submitted, I sometimes edit it. However, unless you do so very quickly, the next person may already have read your posts, and even quoted it, before you had finished your edit.

Also, people don't get notified of a edit. They see your initial post. If you change it, they may never notice the change (particularly if the post was on the bottom of a page).

So... in that situation, I often give in, and do a separate post, so the thread doesn't end up confused.

I edit more often than not. Perhaps to break it up you could use something like this to act as a line break:

I'm still not sure what we are talking about here.


1. I find it very unusual to have a single, coherent idea that I have to put in a huge long post. However - it does occasionally happen. I think when I first came across a bunch of ideas relating to migrainous aura, I posted it as a single long post.
   
2. The first post on a thread can sometimes work out to be a fairly long one, as you are possibly trying to convey your thoughts, as to why you started the thread, and so on.
   
3. Most often, when in the middle of a thread, you may have more than one idea you wish to contribute. I find it usually easiest to post each idea separately. If that happens to mean I've posted consecutively, then so be it.
