Anyone participating in NaNoWriMo this year? I am, but I will be writing 50,000 words of whatever I want, mainly short stories, and not a novel. Technically, this isn't following "the rules" but I doubt anyone will mind. The first time I participated in NaNoWriMo was in 2002, and I won; I didn't finish the novel but I did write 50,000 words of it, and the process taught me quite a bit about my strengths and weaknesses as a writer. Until that point I had mainly written poetry, but over the past couple years have discovered a love for short fiction. I've got a collection of short stories planned out in my head and will be using the Nano motivation to get them down on paper.

Join me? :D

I was just thinking of making this post... BEATEN!

It's fun going through the many winning entries. I always wished I could enter, but since my fiction writing speed is glacial at best, I'd never be able to manage 50k in one month. I'm in awe of the number of people who can actually pull it off.

Why not give it a go just to see how much you can do in a month? You might surprise yourself.

Attempting it and either failing or succeeding with time to spare would be fun. But if I ended up with 35,000 words and a week left, I think I'd go into panic mode and stop eating and sleeping.

Wait, that would be fun, too. Perhaps I'll give it a try.

I'll be doing Nano this year. First time so I've no idea if I'll finish or not. It looks like fun and it's been a while since I wrote anything very long.

I'll be blogging the whole thing as I write it here:

http://www.krishstories.blogspot.com/

Are any of you guys doing the same, because I'd be interested in having something to read in November.

Anything longer than a few pages falls apart. Poetry is more my thing, otherwise I'd consider. :|

I wasn't planning on it, as I am British, but as it is international, why not?. I have freinds who are participating. 1 asked me to proof read his stuff, which is wierd :P

Heh, its actually a good story, about how in the future, exams become Computerised, and suposedly un cheatable.

Everybody participating, post your usernames for NaNoWriMo

I did NaNoWriMo three years ago, and finished it. It was nice. Nowadays I'm just too busy to participate, and I don't have any inspiration anyway.

I have too many writing projects as is. I really want to finish the novel I've got over 30K words on now, but that's against the rules. B-----ds.

((Kidding! Kidding! That's how I'd say it IRL. But even then you'd probably think I'm serious. Deadpan. It's a gift.... and a curse.))

:P I actually am using a story I had the prelude for already written. But, it doesn't violate the rules, because I don't have to design the characters, for the most part. Many of the key Characters ARE real people, and much of it is set online.... Including on WP.net :D

Lets see....

Supplies: Pencils and Paper (designing stuff, to better visualise it)... (X)
Food and Water (X)
Computer (X)
Rhapsody, Hammerfall, Freedom Call and Stratovarius (X)
